Glee just makes me so happy, OK? (A “Sadie Hawkins” recap)

Last night I watched Glee and the episode was just so perfect in so many ways that I had to write a blog post about it. Mind you, I did try to record a vlog in order to better capture my excitement, but after multiple tries it just wasn’t happening (-_-).

Anyway, where was I? GLEE! Oh my gosh you guys Glee really came back with a bang this week! I’m just gonna get right to it and explain the main why this episode had me so hyped up: MY TWO FAVOURITE COUPLES GOT TOGETHER AND I HAD NO IDEA THAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN.

Brochel happened. Jarley happened. Brochel and Jarley. Together. In the same episode. I was literally screaming the whole way through. You have to understand that since the beginning these were the two couples that I was dying to see every week. I absolutely loved the start of the season but after about four episodes the show wasn’t really going in the direction I wanted it to, and not even just from a shipping point of view but with the music and storylines too. All of that changed with “Sadie Hawkins’.

Firstly, I really enjoyed the theme. It was an important one but also made for a fun episode, and who doesn’t love a good school dance?

The Glee boys

Work.

Secondly, I was super happy with the direction of Marley’s character. After finally having some good influences around her she got her confidence back and not only did she ask Jake to the dance, but she made damn well sure that he knew what she wanted out of their relationship (you tell him, Marley! ) and has just generally turned into the sassy and strong woman that I always knew she could be.

Finally, the music! It was so on point. The number just before Marley asked Jake out was super cute but by far the best performances were No Scrubs and Locked Out Of Heaven. Just. Amazing. One of my favourite parts of the show musically is when the boys get together and do a boyband-like performance and No Scrubs is probably my favourite (this is huge – I never thought I’d like anything more than season 2′s “Friday”). They were so smooth and sexy as usual. Also, THIS happened:

GLEE: Ryder dancing.

I mean, what even.

Then the next performance, Locked Out Of Heaven. I can’t even explain in words how much I loved this song. Marley and Unique’s voices are pure perfection together. By far my favourite song of the episode and in a long while on Glee. I’ve had it (as well as No Scrubs) on repeat all day. I just can’t get enough. Also, like I said above, I loved how sassy Marley was in this.

The only thing I didn’t like about the episode was everything to do with Tina. Ryan Murphy needs to kill her off already (sorry, not sorry).

Glee: Tina being dumb

Girl, bye.

But yeh, basically Glee was great this week and reminded me why I love it so much. From the hilarious lines to the sexy performances, it just gave me everything I needed. I hope this show never ends!
